The range of festivals in Belgium, France, Luxembourg and Switzerland includes many organisations with more than 100,000 visitors; TomorrowLand, Dour, Les Vieilles Charrues, Solidays, Hellfest, Paléo... However, it is worth noting that many of them record year after year, record numbers of foreign festival-goers. This trend has great potential to increase your attendance rates.
More than one in ten French people participated in a festival in 2018. This represents no less than 7,200,000 people. Today's travellers are willing to spend more to experience the magic of music, cultural or even commercial festivals to the full. More precisely, Generation Y expresses a particular interest in festivals around the world to benefit and be enriched by cultural diversity and authentic human interactions. Emmanuel Négrier, French sociologist at the CNRS and also writer of works on the festival market, is now talking about the "festivalisation" of culture in France. "In a concert hall, the public admires a rockstar or discovers a talent. In a festival that lasts several days, with multiple scenes, he gets both - the star and the discovery."

In 2019 altogether 6000 festivals were registered in France. In order make them a success cultural managers need local knowledge, expertise, cultural embeddedness, the ability to follow trends, experience, have live press contacts, strategic partnerships and a good sense of rhythm.
